The Lokayan Cultural, Social, Educational and Multipurpose Organisation, Mumbai has been noticeably working in the fields of Education and Culture since the year 2013. The organisation conducts folk play writing workshops, national and international conferences and various cultural programs. Our main aim is to educate the researchers in folk art and folk lore and to encourage them for the researches in the same.
 
The Lokayan organisation has conducted social awareness street plays in collaboration with governmental departments such as Aids Control Board, Election Commission, Amaravati Municipal Corporation, Information and Public relation department.
 
Since 2017, we organize a ten days ‘Bharud’ training workshop in collaboration with Ekvira Manch, Pandharpur (Maharashtra) from 1st May to 10th May. Famous Bharud artist like Smt. Chandabai Tiwadi participated in and successfully completed this workshop.
During the Corona pandemic period, in order to lift up the spirits and manage the frustration due to lockdown, Lokayan started an Acting Challenge Campaign in May 2020 where in enthusiasts were asked to submit monologue acting videos and they were published on the Lokayan YouTube channel to promote the artists. In June 2020, public was called upon to present and record folk arts and send the videos to Lokayan in order to publish on its YouTube channel.
 
The Lokayan Cultural, Social, Educational and Multipurpose Organisation has, until now, successfully organized various cultural programs. In July 2021, an online writing workshop on Loknatya – Vagnatya – Aakhyan (folk drama-vag-drama-legend story) writing was organized in cooperation with the West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur and Ministry of Culture, Govt of India. The tradition that was totally dormant in the past sixty years was revived again by the Lokayan.
 
Street plays have been conducted for the public awareness.
An international conference on folk art and folk lore was organised in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi in May 2022. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, president, Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
